Primal STRONG

How you look will never matter half as much as what you can actually DO. That’s why we’re running these sessions on Primal Strength.

Primal Strength is the ability to perform physically in the real world, with effectiveness and efficiency, especially when the situation and the environment are challenging.

It's about getting good at movements that mimic everyday actions so you can do them better. It's about being a more efficient human being.

Think of swiftly climbing the steps two at a time with an awkward load

Think of being easily able to push the car if you had to

Think of having the confidence to help someone up off the ground and tell them ‘Dont worry, I’ve got you.’

Think of being recognised by those around you as strong and capable, even if you don’t look great in lycra.

Or just think about getting up from trying your shoes with one swift, powerful movement, no groans, no wobbles.

Forget about bicep curls, ab crunches and the bench press.

For a start we’re going to be working outside. We'll also be looking at a variety of unconventional kit such as weighted bars, sledgehammers, rocks, clubbells, sandbags, kettlebells, staffs, and a whole bunch of other stuff that will help you generate force though multiple planes of motion in order to complete every movement from every position with purpose and athletic DRIVE.

You’ll get to explore some functional movement patterns and techniques and look at how you can use them to enhance your strength and ability in everyday life.

We’ll also get time to sit round the campfire with a coffee and talk about:

Some important figures from history who performed some amazing feats of strength and endurance.

The media’s obsession with body types and why this doesnt matter half as much as what you can actually DO.

The amazing abilities of our early ancestors could hunt, fight, lift, climb, push, pull, throw and navigate difficult terrain whilst carrying heavy objects or evading predators.

Why our lives are a lot easier these days but that’s not always good for us.

We’re going to be scheduling some classes for the spring and summer but for now this is your chance to find out how you can enhance your functional strength without the gym and without spending a ton of money on new equipment.
