Welcome to Forest Green, a new veterans programme for 2024.
On these sessions we're going to look at a variety of ways we can use the outdoors to restore a healthy mental baseline.
We'll always begin with chopping some wood, getting the shelter up, lighting a fire and hanging the kettle. We'll always cook something traditional and tasty for lunch.
We'll also use this time for exploring what I call 'back-pocket skills'. These are things that people can do in the moment to quickly restore a healthy mental baseline and they include mindful tea drinking, situational awareness, deliberate attention, forest bathing and journalling.
On this show nobody goes home cold wet and tired
Nobody gets asked to hug the trees (or each other)
Nobody gets put on the spot or asked to ‘open up’ about personal stuff.
