Within a few minutes of stepping out into some natural surroundings several important things happen to you;

Your cortisol level will drop

So will your blood pressure

Your brain gets more oxygen and your mood lifts

You’ll experience enhanced concentration and bizarre but true, improved memory.

This has significant advantages over bringing everyone together in the meeting room or online.

On this show nobody goes home cold wet and tired

Nobody gets asked to hug the trees (or each other)

Nobody gets put on the spot or asked to ‘open up’ about personal stuff

Nobody needs to be fit or have outdoor experience

We work with NHS staff, combat veterans dealing with PTSD, police officers, people making addiction recovery journeys, tech startups and young people.

Most of these sessions, particularly in winter, begin with addressing fundamental needs of shelter and fire in order to create a warm, dry comfortable outdoor space.

With that done, and depending on the group's agenda, we might look at some traditional skills around cooking on a fire and gathering and processing natural resources. Our focus here is on helping people understand that these are skills that can be taken away and used on the clients own time - they are not rocket science!

With a lot of the groups we work with we'll also use this time for exploring what I call 'back-pocket skills'. These are things that people can do in the moment to quickly restore a healthy mental baseline and they include mindful tea drinking, situational awareness, deliberate attention, forest bathing and journalling.

No two sessions are the same so we should talk!

We take teams and groups outdoors so they can enjoy the natural environment and also to use it to restore energy, productivity and a healthy mental baseline.
